Book group

We meet every second Wednesday in the month - so a week after the monthly meetings - at the Golden Lion (see Venues). Our aim is to foster appreciation and enjoyment of book reading, discussion and literary criticism. However we do that in a lively, fun way. Conversations often end up in hoots of laughter!

Books we read in 2009 included Julian Fellowes "Past Imperfect", Meg Roscoff's "How I Live Now", Victoria Hislop's "The Island", and Kazuo Ishiguro's "Never Let Me Go".

In 2010 we intend to read more modern novels, some classics - for example we read Stella Gibbon's "Cold Comfort Farm" in January - and something a little different too. It's great when people say that they have enjoyed a book we selected which they otherwise wouldn't have chosen to read!
